Brushturkeys Citizen Science App on TV

We were very proud to see that the latest Citizen Science project to join the SPOTTERON platform and also winner of the Australian Citizen Science Conference competition was featured on Australian news last week.

We developed the app for the project lead by PhD student Matthew Hall, which deals with the spread of of Australian Brushturkeys habitats and mounds into suburban areas all over the country. Once almost extinct, they now even reside in Sydneys Northern Beaches, North Shore and even south of the Sydney harbour. And as can be seen on the map, many other suburban areas in Australia.

The apps for Android and iOS or the interactive browser-map for anyone without a smartphone allow Citizen Scientists all over or visiting Australia to enter their observations of the birds and thereby submit valuable data for Matthews research in collaboration with the Taronga Conservation Society, the Royal Botanic Garden and the University of Sydney.
