Let's meet Citizen Science! Episode 3 - Herpetofauna

During the "Long Night of Research" (Lange Nacht der Forschung) in Vienna Austria at the Museum of Natural History (NHM) we did not only meet with Irmgard Greilhuber from the Citizen Science project Mycodata from our last Episode of "Let's meet Citizen Science", we also got to meet Silke Schweiger and her project Herpetofauna by the NHM.

Silke explains what the project is all about and how other fans of amphibians and reptiles can support science by contributing their observations of such. Since our very own Philipp entered his observations of toads at the age of eight years, it's obvious, everyone in the SPOTTERON office is (at the latest since knowing that) a great fan of herpetofauna. Also, Herpetofauna cooperates with Project Roadkill, which is a Citizen Science project running on the SPOTTERON platform.

As Silke explains in the video, already a sixth of all reported data (in this case meaning 20.000 out of the 120.000 observations) came from Citizen Scientists.
Anyone interested in the project and/or rising that number, can find more information in the video or on the project's website: www.herpetofauna.at
