This Holiday Card is all about how we move through space! Thank you for all the Citzen Science in 2024!

Hello Visitor,

Thank you for all the Citizen Science in 2024!

The year 2024 is coming to a close, and soon we are off for the winter holidays! It was an exciting year!

Together with projects across Europe, North and South America, Australia, Asia and Africa, we have developed new technologies integrated new features in the Citizen Science App Platform. In March, SPOTTERON reached a milestone with the SPOTTERON FOUR version!

As another major step into the future of Citizen Science Apps, the SPOTTERON AI system has been launched and is already available for supporting the public in identifying the invasive species Popillia japonica and similar beetles. The SPOTTERON AI can be custom-trained to all other kinds of topics in Citizen Science, making this step a door-opener as well for other projects to utilize effective and ethical AI.

Moreover, new Horizon Europe proposals are already in the making, and we are happy to join consortiums to contribute our expertise in Citizen Science App technology for innovation and toolkit development. If you are searching for partners still for a consortium, please let us know and let's have a talk next year!

With Stefan and Hoai, new team members have joined SPOTTERON making project management smoother and contributing expert knowledge to the AI development.

And together as a team, as it is tradition, we want to say "Thank you"! Like each year, we have designed a nice Holiday Season card for you just before the winter holidays:

A hand-crafted Card for you!

This year's design is all about movement — we are travelling through space on our Planet at an astonishing 108,000 kilometers per hour around the sun, and it takes a full year to go once around.  So — each year marks a full circle around our home star, and we are almost there for 2024 :)

Check out this year's card in full resolution here!

Speaking of movement — in reality it is even more complex. The Sun is moving through space, too, around the massive black hole in the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. Due to the Sun's movement, the planets, and even the moons are in an intricate dance.

Check out this animation on YouTube, if you never heard of the “Helical model” and how our Solar System — and yourself — is constantly on a spin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jHsq36_NTU

And if you are up for a little more in-depth video, here is a wonderful summary by Space Matters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW2GT48ZLwA

Enjoy! 🪐

Now off for the holidays! 🎄🥂

From the 23th of December on, we will take some time off to visit loved ones and recharge over the holidays. Our full team will be back in office regularly on the 13th of January, ready to tackle the new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm — See you on the other side!

Thank you, and all the best from Vienna!
