Measuring Rainfall with Citizen Science
The project looks into various methods to involve volunteers by implementing and evaluating a participatory hydro-climatic monitoring program in chosen mountain regions of Ecuador, Honduras, and Tanzania. Furthermore, it will show how Citizen Science data may be used in hydrological modeling to improve forecasts of the impact of climate change on water resources in data-scarce areas. The project's outputs can be used to guide how to create future participatory monitoring programs, as well as to encourage the approach's replication in other parts of the world to address the lack of hydro-climatic data for evidence-based decision-making and sustainable water management.
